COLLABORATIVE STUDIO - FUNDAMENTALS II

This building is meant to serve as a hub for bringing international art into Savannah to provide the citizens of Savannah a chance to increase their cultural and artistic knowledge. The concept of this project derives from the site. It has an unusual shape and two major pedestrian pathways running through it. The design of my building started as a pair of shifting forms that connect by following the site’s shape, while taking into account the original pedestrian pathways, to create a building of stepped figures that promotes movement throughout the site. The building is divided into two wings to preform different functions -- a small wing to serve as a private residency with studio space for visiting international artists, and a larger wing to serve as public studio galleries with event space.
