Sustainable Green Home Resilient to the changing Environment
This is a competition organized by Society of Nepalese Architects for both Students and Professionals and this entry was ranked the position of 2nd Runner up from the Professional Category.
Last year we went to Barpak. A beautiful village in the upper hilly region of Gorkha. A village which is a economic center for surrounding villages like Gumda and Laprak and also serves as the starting point of Manaslu circuit trek. But due to the 2015 earthquake, the vibe of the place has changed. It has started looking like a village with buildings of the cities. This had us shook and so we felt like something had to be done for this.
So, let me present you "An ode to Barpak"
There is a common trend here, with most of the people as British armies, they tend to come back to their village and build a modern home for their retirement. So respecting their trend, we decided to upgrade their Gurung home into a sustainable home with their traditional designs and techniques.
