Shine Bright
This sticker is a slightly modified version of artwork I made while working for Anton Sport. The mission was to create a groovy ‘70s style logotype sticker as a gift to customers picking up orders.
I knew Cooper Black would have to be featured since it is the quintessential front of that era. Since most our customers are students, I wanted the text to be a simple encouraging statement to brighten their day. Because of the way Adobe Illustrator handles complex clipping masks, it was a real time-saver to create all the graphics destined to go inside the lettering first. I kept the text outline on top while I worked on this portion so I could see where the shining beams would be visible in the end.
Once the clipping mask was applied, I created sparkles to fit in with the shining gold aesthetic and fill in the white space after the letter E. Gold was also an obvious choice for the groovy theme, and I wanted a color that would bring in optimistic feelings. Die cut stickers require a stroke around the art to avoid cutting into it and I knew it would be boring to just go with white. The light blue was chosen as it is a contrasting color and I wanted to continue that tone of optimism by giving an impression of the sky.
The final product, printed by StickerApp, on mirrored vinyl to enhance the shiny appearance. The original stickers made for Anton Sport are unavailable as the pandemic halted their production, so I recreated them for personal use.
