Vampspew is a wittily surreal mind bending escapade. This clever alternative comic takes the reader through realms of the supernatural, horror, satire and humor while it slowly reveals itself as a thoughtful commentary on spiritual honesty and the search for universal meaning.
My goal when I began this project was to create a graphic novel from start to finish with no outside input or influence whatsoever. This usually is not the best approach since comments and suggestions from impartial critics can be very helpful to the development of the story. Perhaps it was the fact that as an illustrator my work is always a collaborative effort and I felt the need to create something that was completely and uniquely my own. Of course this is the case with my fine art but those have always been individual pieces. The graphic novel format presents the opportunity to engage the viewer in a more prolonged manner.
