Dolphin Micro Torch Re-design

The aim of this project is to redesign a torch for a new context-of-use. The new body must be designed for a different manufacturing process and all internal electronic components must be re-used.

The redesign evolves a wet-environment based torch into a fashionable and premium quality product for every day carry. Its body is designed to compliment its manufacturing process, through careful material selection and thickness dimensions.
Materials and manufacturing processes

Outer body:
  -  Anodised Aluminium-Mg-Si alloy, offering high strength and corrosion resistance
  -  Extruded to length, followed by post machining and threading

Inner shell:
  -  Extruded ABS plastic, offering excellent mechanical and electrical properties

Attachable clip:
  -  Formed stainless steel sheet, offering high strength for its thinner profile
