Chimelong Group gave me a thrilling hi-tech experience when my design team and I worked on the new 6,700-seat Zhuhai Chimelong Theater, which opened its doors in July 2019.
The theatre was equipped with a 270-degree panoramic ring stage, three large surrounding waterways, and an elevated 250-meter-long circular track. A 5-meter-wide passage for parades and other large-scale performing equipment, such as aerial lifting devices and hidden aircraft, were set between the seats.
Another striking attraction was an enormous LED screen with the area of 1300 square meters, roughly the size of three basketball courts. Working together, the LED technology and the projection system created an unparalleled visual experience.
The adaptation of the Fisher Maiden legend engaged more than 30 teams comprised of 300 highly-skilled circus artists from 22 countries and regions.
This 100-minute Broadway-style show featured world-class performances with water-land-sky elements. Dragon-themed auto-parades, swimming dragons, stunning costumes, and background music complemented this amazing stage design.
Water curtains, fountains, rising stages with water elements, projection devices, and laser-created stage effects, were designed to add an unforgettable impression.
