The aim of this project was to redesign opening credits of series I am familiar with. I decided to choose the show 13 Reasons Why. In my redesign I knew I wanted to take a different approach to the original, however, I also wanted to keep it symbolic and appropriate to the storyline of the series.
As the first step, I conducted a research about the show itself, the genre and I searched for some inspiration as well. A designer that caught my eye was Saskia Marka. She works with a range of techniques such as photography, illustration and various effects, including a lot of spinning and mirroring.
Inspired by my research, I decided to make a photoshoot with some props from the series. I included mainly old tapes and blue colour both playing an important role in the story. The result was quite interesting, so I developed this idea further. I created a rough storyboard that I used as a base for my following work. After that I created the actual animation in AfterEffects.
