Typographic Comparison Poster: Clarendon and The Serif

Typographic Comparison Poster

Research and analyze two typefaces, and design a large formatposter that visually communicates a comparison between them.
Process

Comparison Studies
Tried various ways to visually compare and contrast Clarendon and The Serif. I asked myself, "Which technique makes their similarities and differences most noticeable?"
Type Studies
Further exploration included color and typography as I tried to highlight the comparisons. I favored the black background because the pink and yellow created distinct contrast against it, but I also feared the text might have bad legibility.
Final Design

I divided the poster with the typeface names to allow the viewer to start reading the top to bottom section first. The top includes basic information: who created the typefaces, weights and styles, and most significant comparisons. The bottom half contains all the similarities and differences I found between Clarendon and The Serif. The separation of the two chuncks of information made the elements less busy and easier to understand. The legibility did not turn out to be problem against the black background as long as I used white for small text.
