I wrote out a list of ABC's and then filled each letter in with the name of an animal whose first initial matched each letter. Then using Procreate, I imported type and illustrated each animal. To make the set cohesive, I added detail to the letter, whether that be an object related to the animal or an environment they live in. I also attempted to make the animal a part of the letter form (i.e. the whale's tale helps create the shape of the "W"). They were all placed on a grid to form a cohesive alphabet in order to explore semiotics and how each word might be represented in terms of the details and construction of the letterform.
