Ocean Textures - Textile Design

Artist’s statement
Ocean textures is a project isnpired by the world ocean that focuses primarily on texture, structure and colour. I did the primary research in London by visiting the Project Zero art installation. The secondary research, I did by exploring photos of the life in the world ocean. I was looking at the flora and fauna, the colours, the textures and structures. By analyzing the water, fish, jellyfish, corals, shells and seaweed I managed to translate all of these beautiful textures into textiles. Multidimensional pieces made by the combination of artisan skills, workmanship, quality fabrics and embellishments, create unique textile surfaces. A range of different weights and finishes create a diverse and luxurious collection that is aimed towards the AW 2020 haute couture fashion market. The designs are produced all by hand with technical excellence in the contemporary textile design area – couture craft. Although this results in a high retail price, it culminates in a unique product of a high quality that will last a long time and won’t be made in the loop of fast fashion, which makes it ethically produced and sustainable.
