During isolation, which I experienced in Jordan, I spent most of my time in my apartment and have been watching a lot of old movies, especially from the genre of film noir, which features dramatic, high-contrast cinematography. I feel like the entire world is in flux, which makes me feel sort of unstable, and generally speaking I feel confined and on edge. I also think the coronavirus has distorted the way I see things. To concretize and convey these ideas, I chose to shoot in one room and one room only: my bathroom. I tried to use boring, normal things as subjects, but set my light, like in the films I have been watching, to make my subjects appear ominous, distorted, or simply dramatic. The shots, different slices of the room, are all close up, which prevents viewers from getting comfortable or forming a complete picture. Try and spot the only word in the images.
