가나다라 5호의 첫 챕터 「먼지묻은 타자기를 꺼내보다」에서 한글 타자기의 정착 과정을 살펴보며, 한글 기록 도구의 역사를 연구했다. 이 작업은 재활용품 가게에서 우연히 발견한 타자기에서 시작되었다. 컴퓨터 키보드와 핸드폰 자판이 익숙한 나에게 아날로그도 디지털도 아닌 한글 타자기는 생경한 기록 도구로 다가왔다. 한글 타자의 종류와 타자기 사용법, 타자기 수집가 석금호 대표와 한글국립박물관 연구원의 인터뷰가 함께 수록되어 있다.
In the first chapter of Ganadara No.5, 「Looking out a dusty typewriter」 we studied the history of Korean typewriters by looking at the settlement process of Hangul typewriters. This work started with a typewriter I stumbled across in a recycling shop. For me, familiar with computer keyboards and cell phone keyboards, Korean typewriters, neither analog nor digital, came to me as an unfamiliar writing tool. It includes the types of Korean typewriters, how to use typewriters, and interviews with typewriter collector Seok Geum-ho and a researcher at the Korean National Museum.
