La 16 Street Burritos

La 16 is a fictional food truck that delivers authentic Ciudad Juárez style burritos in El Paso, Texas. Named after la Avenida 16 de Septiembre in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, La 16 sells burritos, guisados, salsas, and handmade flour tortillas to go. All of their veggies, herbs, and spices are GMO, pesticide, and preservative free. All meats, eggs, and dairy products are hormone free and humanely sourced.
The back of the jar tells a story about the inspiration behind La 16. The description reads, "Picture it: You’re walking down la Avenida 16 de Septiembre in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. Sí señor. You walk into a tiny burrito shop. Take in the smells: chile, tomate, cebolla — the holy trinity. Now take in the sights: a man that resembles your grandfather - stern yet kind, working over a comal that’s probably older than you are, seasoned with the flavors of a thousand guisados. In the corner, a comadre is making tortillas, by hand of course. Beautiful, right? What if we told you La 16 delivers these same flavors, right here in El Paso, Texas? Named after Avenida 16 de Septiembre in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuaha,  La 16 is a street food truck delivering the authentic flavors of Ciudad Juarez all wrapped up in a tortilla. La 16 offers burritos, guisados, hand-made flour tortillas and salsas to go daily. ¿Qué más quieres?"
The Logo

¡Ahi vienen los burritos! The playful logo depicts La 16 food truck leaning on its side as if it is turning around a corner and screeching to a halt, announcing its presence. The truck features a rolling pin on the grill – a nod to La 16's delicious handmade tortillas. The logo is done in a hand spray painted style that is consistent with the handmade lettering throughout.
The Packaging

The lettering on the packaging was inspired by the hand-painted lettering on store-fronts, stands, and food carts in Ciudad Juárez. All of the title lettering is hand painted. The sayings and phrases that are printed across the to go bags, boxes, and cups are phrases that are often heard in households, restaurants, and stores in the El Paso/Juarez border region. These unique phrases make each container a conversation piece. The packaging was designed to be playful, humorous, and colorful while still maintaining a homemade, small business feel.
