Architecture Course Y3S1 Work/Live/Sale Units

Work/Live/Sale Incubators Units. Proposed development brings live to the street by creating UNITS around new plaza where people can live, shop, eat and relax. The project creates strong community of creative citizens and starts dialog between University and city.
First part of the project: P1A Strategic Analysis to Design Development.
Although these two collages appeared  at the end of P1A, I decided to show them at the beginning of my portfolio. They carry an atmosphere of the place I wanted to create in a Plymouth’s city centre. The vibrant urban space that never sleeps; creative community gathered around Work / Life Incubators.
Various sketches of analysed site helped me to understand it. Drawing diagrams creates opportunity to be selective and analytical.
I was sketching the site every time I was visiting it. From these small pictures I created true picture of analysed site. Proposed interventions almost created themselves from those analyses.
Creating Macro/Micro studies from previous diagrams was a natural next step. They are organised around four main subjects: Strenghts, Weaknesses, Oportunities and Threats.
The plan drawings show different type of analysis. In this scale it is easy to forget that we are designing for humans.
The hand-drawn 3D masterplan shows our site and all existing buildings with different programs that we had to include in our group strategy.
The precedent study: Storey’s Field Centre and Eddington Nursery by MUMA.  The presentation I made  about that building enriched my knowledge about architectural elements such as light, sustainability or weather.
Sectional model to test different day light.
Massing models of : 1.Existing buildings 2.My proposal that include creating plaza and increasing height of the buildings.
Second part of the project: P1B Design Development to Design Resolution.
