Besides food, one of my biggest passions, is music whether it's going to a gig, sticking some tunes on whilst on the open road or photographing a live band.
During my time working at Futuresound Events I was able to delve into the world of gig posters, at the very least I would be designing 10 posters a day during busy periods.
How does it all come together?
The marketing team would receive a confirmation email of a band or artist with a date and venue from Futuresound's promoters.
We then would be provided with assets from the agent, usually these would just be a band photo and their logo but for high profile artists we would be given an admat to work from. The admat doesn't leave much room for creativity as it's just a case of changing dates and venues.
If it was a band or artist I hadn't heard of before I would listen to their music to see how I could portray their sound visually. Once the design was finished I would then send off to the agent for approval and then if it was approved I would go onto design Facebook Event Headers, Social Media Squares, Instagram Stories and print ready files.
Disclaimer: artist and band photos seen on these posters are not my own.
