Salon 91 in Cape Town asked me to create a piece for their One in a Million group exhibition.
The artists were challenged by the gallery to create anew / submit a masterpiece that they believe to be a truly once-off original, successful, archetypal art work, which answers to the theme and title phrase ‘One in a Million’.
My piece was built around a phrase from a Neil Young song Helpless and talks about the value of a loved one. The typography was hand drawn and then recreated and refined in illustrator. The piece was then lazer cut and engraved into plexiglass, playing with dimension and texture.
