So if, say, you have been doing well. You get promoted at your job.
You earn a bunch of money and you decide, it's time to repaint your home.
And you do, repaint your house.
The paint goes on top of the previous layer
If only at a microscopic level, your house will get smaller, because the walls will get thicker with the paint.
You know what that means?
It means, that in essence, to society, you have become poorer. Because you now have a smaller house.
Don't come at me, I clearly have way too much time to think nowadays.
