Materials- Final Project
(10x8x8) Materials: wire birdcage, stuffed koala, children’s hymn book, synthetic makeup brush, metal tiara, costume necklace, fake flowers, wax

For this project, I wanted the focus to be self expression and exploration. When I was a child, I loved dinosaurs, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, G.I. Joe. If it was popular with little boys, I was all about it. I want to took objects from my childhood that I was forced to like or utilize, even if I did not want to express myself in those ways. I want the piece to show the transformation of growth through self discovery and how your future can change if you choose it to. The wax gives a sense of toxicity to the objects, though they weren’t toxic to begin with. Forced femininity has made them toxic. But. There is always hope. Just like a forest that burns down, new life grows where old life ended. Happiness always finds a way to come through.
