Heterogeneous High Rise Skin

Heterogeneous High Rise Double Membrane
Sensing Reacting Parts
In this Emergent Technologies and Design Master, I investigated the possibilities of developing procedures to map the different parts of the towers in order to seek climatic performance.
Fabric and bimetal strips modules have beendevelopped to match the different properties of the tower skin.
When it gets hot the components open up in order to allow more air to though.
For the over all morphology of the tower some bending rods experiments have been run.
In Grasshopper (rhino 3D plug-in) the different modules of the tower can be modified in length and depth according to further parameters.
Wind analysis on one strip of the tower in Ansys software
Stl models of the tower
Insolation values on the tower skin are xtracted from Ecotect to Excel sheets. The components geometries can then be parametrized with the Insolation values.

Different types of fabric/bi-metal strips
The third type of Component T3 uses a double movement to allow a wide variation in terms of quantity of air which naturally enters the building.
Component T.3 at different moments of the day and the year when more or less air is able to through the double skin.
Component T.4 to accelerate the higher wind velocity of the tower by narrowing the streams of air.
