Art versus Design

The value of art is not based on aesthetics or beauty.  It is based on the value assignment placed on it by those who experience it.  Art is not valuable because it is the personal expression of someone. Value comes from the meaning people give it, not what the artist intends. Those things may align, and they may not.
What separates art and design is the purpose in the world—the intent of its purpose.
