Emily Fisher - Heritage Haus

Heritage Haus is a company that aims to educate and inspire others to get out and travel to learn more about their heritage. The brand features an integration of colorful pieces, illustration, and modern design surrounding three countries; Hungary, Germany, and Slovakia.

Have you ever had the urge to explore the history of your family's DNA? This idea was the driving force behind Heritage Haus. I've never known where my family came from or knew about my family's history because my mom was adopted. She was my inspiration for this project; I wanted to create this project for her and our family. It truly was a journey of self-discovery.
Along with my hand-lettered logo and brand identity for Heritage Haus, I also created a brand guide to represent each country. Each featured a topographic map, a frame, title, and colors.

I learned how to read and create topographic maps for this project and hand drew each topographic pattern on my own. The topographic patterns feature the topography of each country's capital city. Each of the country's names were hand-lettered with their respective art styles in mind, and each set of colors were extracted from an image of the country.

The frames were created using unique architectural design found in each country. Hungary's frame was designed using elements from one of Hungary's most popular tourist destinations called the Matthias Church. Germany's frame was designed with curves and decorative elements of Germany's smaller towns, such as Rothenburg. Slovakia's frame was designed using geometric shapes and hard edges to commemorate Slovakia's modern architecture.
Each box contains a poster, a coaster, a candle, and three small bites that all pertain to its respective country. There is also a small menu card that features a short description of what each food is in English, as well as a handout card that explains more in depth of what each item inside of the box is and a description of the country.
This is a project that I will always hold near to my heart. I am so thankful for AIGA Orlando to give me this opportunity, and also so very thankful for my mentor Mariana Martinez. Thank you so much for reviewing my project Heritage Haus!
