PY // Art from Parkland's Youth

PY // Art from Parkland's Youth is a community art project focused on building community relations in Parkland, Washington through art. The project began as a juried exhibition, featuring artwork from Franklin Pierce School District high school students, juried by Pacific Lutheran University art students.
The following images were all taken by Erica Berry of Erica Anne Photography. Photographs are from the opening reception for the 2013 PY // Art from Parkland's Youth juried exhibition.
Awards were given out to exemplary artwork at the exhibition; a jury of four PLU art students selected Best In ShowJudge's Choice, and five awards. At the end of the exhibition, a People's Choice award was also issued.
The overwhelming success of the exhibition led to the creation of a four-week summer arts camp in July 2013. I opted to keep the logo the same, but change the color to reflect a different branch of the same branding.
Each week of camp explored different artistic mediums and methods. Campers are provided the opportunity to learn new techniques and create projects using these new techniques.

The inaugural camp program in 2013 is highlighted below. Week one explored printmaking, bookbinding, and letterpress. Week two focused on photography and drawing. Week three covered art history, animation, and clay modeling. Camp concluded in week four with musical theater, costume design, and mural painting.
