Below is process work and a dupe-reel for the three shot opening to a larger story. My goal was to have the world's culture, main character's background, and coming conflict all present in the opening.

Word Building:

Ida lives in a world where sea serpents are hunted for their oil, which is burned for energy, and horns, which are ground for medicine. As her family begins struggling to support themselves in a once diverse marketplace, Ida considers a dangerous, but lucrative career in the sea-serpent hunting trade.
