The two works shown are my first installations, done for IN/EX, a group show held at Ashmore Gallery in Savannah, GA during May 2013. The show consisted of work from my senior seminar class at SCAD.
The second piece Breathing Drawings is a walk through installation. To see a video recording of the work in action, click on here to visit my artist website.
The most compelling facet of the human vocabulary is mark. My work records the physical impact with surface and materials, involving both subtle shifts through pigment and fabric, as well as more evasive marks through puncturing and stitching. The installation Breathing Drawings involves marks made by air flow and gravity. The physical movements represent a range of levels of breath from calm to hyperventilating. The piece Build Up explores the poetic impossibility of condensation of breath building up on a window over time.
