Brief:
To design a wearable tracking device and a system around it for the people living with Dementia of Alzheimer’s Type (DAT). Understand the nature of the disease and come up with ideas of designing a device that would become part of the users daily routine
Project Details:
Wandering and getting lost is a common problem amongst the people living with Dementia. To tackle it and enable peace of mind to the carers, a device and the system around it that would allow tracking of the person, was designed. Month-long research was conducted before the ideation process commenced. During this time a few long term habits were identified, with the thinking being, the device would silently become part of a habit and not be alien to them. Three different designs for the product were developed.
