The Divine Ones

Here is a self initiated collection  of works inspired by the Black Greek Letter Organizations.  Through the artistic styling of art deco, photography, and typography...The Divine Ones is a body of work that creates a modern spin on greek paraphernalia and transcending the style into fine art.
The First-

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was the first black greek letter organization founded on the campus of Cornell University on December 4, 1906.

This design highlights the Egyptian society through the Pharaoh/ Sphinx, one of the fraternity's symbolic representations. Seeing that the Egyptian society was the first known modern society of man, this art piece serves as a great representation to Alphas.

So Fine-

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the first African American sorority.  Founded on January 15, 1908 at Howard University, the ladies of AKA have prided themselves on their brilliance, balance, and beauty.

This design shows an AKA enjoying the urban life on a beautiful day.  Sporting her 20 pearl necklace, high heel shoes, and sun hat--- as well as being accompanied by here green frog companion, she is ready to strut her stuff with some class and sass....seriously.
Yo Bunny!~

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on January 5, 1911 at Indian University.

The self proclaimed "Pretty Boys" of the Divine 9 are always suited and booted in style.

This design displays a Kappa man and his encounter with a "kappa bunny", which holds symbolism for the organization.
Hop For Life -

The men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded November 17, 1911 at Howard University.

Omega men are notorious for wearing gold boots and performing a step move called the "Hop".  Omegas all over know the power of the Hop.

This design incorporates the Thunder Bolt which holds symbolic meaning for Omega Psi Phi.
Lady EL E. Phant ~

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Founded January 13, 1913.  Currently the largest BGLO, it is fitting that they have a found heart for the Elephant.

Lady El is standing amongst her alter ego, the strong elephant.  Surrounded by triangles (pyrimids in this case)... she is ready to take on any challenge.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority incorporated was founded on January 9, 1914 and January 16, 1920 respectfully at Howard University.

As the only constitutionally bound brother and sister organzations, this design displays that relationship.  Connected by the wing, these two "Doves" are sorroing towards the light!
Fancy Poodle-

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority,  Inc. was founded on November 12, 1922 at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The design highlights their sorority mascot, the poodle. With a geometric collaboration of their sorority colors (royal blue and gold) along with a mixture of hues, this piece shines "light" on the glamor of the sorority and their precious mascot.
Now We Here~

Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. was founded September 19, 1963 at Morgann State University.

As the youngest of the Divine 9, the Iotas had to face many trials before they were recognized by the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) in 1996.

This design show an Iota Man concurring the top of a monument he built.  This symbolic meaning correlates to all that Iota had to endure as well as the fraternity's motto “Building A Tradition, Not Resting Upon One”
