10 MONTRAS
10 INTERVENÇÕES
19—30 JUNHO 2017

VITRINA is an innovative design project devised as a contribution towards the promotion and the revitalisation of the visual street environment in downtown of Oporto by creating a series of dynamic window displays in commercial premises.

Twenty students of the MA in Communication Design at ESAD Matosinhos were asked to create ten interventions as a way of exemplifying the creative potencial of the union between design and commerce.

This is our window display before the intervention.
MOREIRA DA COSTA ALFARRABISTA, one of the oldest bookshop in downtown.

Starting from a brainstorming about what the book is, what is reading and what the book symbolizes, we came to the conclusion that we wanted to convey the idea of multiple interpretations because each person when reading imagines and creates their unique version of the story.

Consequently, the idea of graphic anamorphoses arose, where the person has to position himself in a certain point of view to be able to read what is presented, creating a greater interaction with the storefront. So we choose an expression to tell it, using the books as a canvas for writing it.

"Each one reads with his eyes.
And interprets from where his feet step.
The whole point a view is a view from a point."

pt

"Cada um lê com os olhos que tem.
E interpreta a partir de onte os pés pisam.
Todo o ponto de vista é a vista de um ponto."
