BYU-I ART 235 Project 03 - Book Covers
This project asked me to create three book covers for the Book The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. One cover had to be fully Typographic, another needed to be composed physically, and the last was the designers choice. Each cover needed to have the full title of the book and the authors name as well.
For this cover I used the text from the first chapter of the book to create color contract on the cover.
In the last chapter of the book, we learn that Dr. Jekyll kept his ingredients to create the changing potion locked away in a drawer that he has a friend fetch for him. For this design I wanted to reference that part of the story.
This book starts with Mr. Utterson and a friend stopping at a door and Mr. Utterson tells the story of when he first encountered Mr. Hyde and how he went through that very door. I wanted to reference this scene in this cover.
