Blur | Raleigh Kids Balance Bike Design
The entire scope of the project consisted of creating graphics and paint treatments for the 2020 model year of Raleigh Bicycles Canada. Graphics and colour stories were created for all categories which included: kids (10), comfort & lifestyle (5), path & pavement (14), mountain (15) and electric (6) models.
The solution: Develop a visual language per family (bicycle type) with graphic hierarchy to apply across all models for brand consistency. Once the visual language was approved by all parties, colour stories, paint selection and special finishing were created. Trend research combined with my many years experience in bike design resulted in a successful product launch. What's remarkable about this particular project is that this launch was all done remotely, during the COVID pandemic which posed a unique set of additional challenges. This particular model is of the Blur balance bike, the first (and in my opinion most fun) bicycle in the Raleigh line. A unisex contrasting colour palette of sunshine yellow and sky blue was paired with stylized wildlife/bear illustrations. The frame is painted in a colour match to Pantone 631 with water transfer type decals with a clear top coat. To amp up the fun factor for this model I created this animation because bikes are supposed to move!
