Typically, woodworkers shape wood and wood composites into designs. For instance, they may construct things such as a workbench or clock. However, the bulk of a woodworker’s projects are small scale. A creative profession, woodworking involves the use of clamps, chisels, and hammers, and grants professionals the opportunity to add their design flair to projects.

Carpentry, on the other hand, involves the creation of functional items and structures, such as cabinetry and framing. While the professionals do work with wood and wood products, carpenters also use other materials, which requires that they have varying skills relating. Carpenters may also perform woodworking, depending on the project.
