Pantone Big Game Color Commentary

PANTONE #BigGameColorCommentary

The San Francisco 49ers and The Kansas City Chiefs made it all the way to the Super Bowl this year. Two teams that play two very different styles of football. From cities in two very different parts of the country. Separated by nearly 2000 miles.

Yet their primary colors are neighbors in the Pantone System.

So we came up of a way to have Pantone for the first time ever authentically join the Super Bowl LIV conversation without mentioning the teams, cities, or league by name by replacing our subjects with a PANTONE color code in our Big Game Color Commentary tweets. Ultimately uniting two very different groups of people, designers and sports fans on the same platform, Twitter.

We tweeted commentary on the fly about the action in the game, halftime entertainment, food and lots of other Super Bowl festivities.
Plus we got to start a bunch of fun conversations with the brands that had invested big in traditional advertising during the game.
With a $0 budget Pantone garnered 1,200,000 Twitter impressions and some press.
