KNITTING PATTERN DESIGN BY AMANDA BERRY

Knit a set of stacking dolls, also known as Matryoshka. Traditionally made of wood and painted in bright shades, this set is knitted instead, and the large and medium doll pull apart to reveal the smallest doll in the centre.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the dolls are knitted on single pointed needles (not in the round).  Each is worked in 4 ply yarns, although you can use DK (double knitting/light worsted) if you prefer.

A pair of 3.5mm single pointed knitting needles (US 4) 

Scheepjes Catona; 100% Cotton; sport weight/5 ply yarn; one 25g skein in each colour.

A handful of toy filling, tapestry needle, and beads for eyes

One size only - 9cm to 12cm tall. 

For confident beginners and above, techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
