Washi Tape and Creative Concepts

Using creative concepts when creating a design can not only give a designer direction, it can also help create a successful design. For this project, I utilized combination, juxtaposition, isolation, simile, change of context, physical shape, and a material change to help express different ideas with the use of washi tape.

Washi tape is typically colorful and used for various crafting. It is strong enough to hold objects in place while still being easy to peel off. These designs are digital compositions utilizing photography and Adobe Photoshop to manipulate, crop, isolate, and create each design.
Easy to Peel - Material Change:
Mix Tape - Combination:
Slide - Juxtaposition:
Let's Roll - Simile:
Clearly there is a difference - Isolation:
Eye Black - Change of context:
Add Color - Physical Shape similarity:
Each of these creative strategies took the item in a different direction to create a new concept and design.
