During my journey on the Trans-Siberian railway, I left the tracks to catch a short glimpse of one of the world's most fascinating monuments - the great wall of China. The part near the tiny village Gubeikou was particularly intriguing because I had the wall ruins almost for myself the entire day. No tourists, no souvenir booths. Instead, a long day of hiking along the wall finished with a beautiful sunset.
