The design process involved a site analysis in which the studio recreated a 9 block model of the site, produced mock-up models, sketches and abstract concept work of the site and the modern use for a library. Quote is from Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities.
The site is located along Pennsylvania Avenue, at the corner of I Street and 20th Street.
The facade was to sit adjacent to the street to create a breezeway sidewalk for pedestrians.
The central core wraps around an atrium space, with a continuous stair.
Project completed Fall 2011, for SCAD Bachelor of Fine Art under Professor Payne
