This visualization looks at the monetary influence of oil and gas companies on pivotal environmental ballot measures. It argues that our modern democracy can be sold to the highest bidder.
Each state has an image overlay of a landscape representing the relevant ballot measure. The size of the circles are proportional to the money spent on each side of the measure.
