This is a book about The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914–1917, that is considered to be the last major expedition of the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.
The main part of the book is taken by Shackleton’s text about the expedition, composed of a series of his lectures. It’s supplemented with diary texts, footnotes containing interpreter comments, and internal footnotes. The text is divided with black-and-silver sheets, that highlight particularly tense moments and contain Frank Hurley’s images, arranged in chronological order and sometimes supplemented with descriptions and fragmentation. The book has biographical essays about Shackleton and Hurley, a table of the crew of the ship and the map, that also serves as a separator for the main and additional sections.
An additional section consists of the diary of Frank Hurley, a photo gallery printed on silver paper and a part printed on yellow paper
that included the full subscript to the film, appendix, index and tables
