BOOK COVER DESIGN

Design Directive
Concept development, layout, and photography to redesign the cover of a classic novel in a historical graphic design style. I chose to re-imagine Siddhartha by Herman Hesse as Postmodern.

Goal
My goal was to create a cover of Siddhartha that might entice a new reader. I loved the challenge of combining this traditional, spiritual story with a playful, modern cover. Siddhartha’s journey to live by the river where he ultimately achieves enlightenment inspired the imagery of the larger than life foot stepping into the ferry boat on an ethereal sea. The color palette, shapes, and use of typography was directly inspired by April Greiman’s Postmodern work in the 70’s and 80’s.
