French Open (Ashleigh Barty) - Playing in her first Grand Slam final, Barty, a 23-year-old native of Australia, defeated Marketa Vondrousova in the French Open. Barty won three singles titles in 2019, and earned a career-best $11.3 million in prize money.

Australian Open (Naomi Osaka) - Osaka, who defeated Williams in the final of the 2018 US Open, won the first Grand Slam of 2019 by beating Petra Kvitova in the 2019 Australian Open.
