Cielito Lindo: Homage to Julieta Valenzuela
WHAT?
Concept development of the cover art for a vinyl record as a homage to Julieta Valenzuela, my grandmother.
HOW?
It all started with an experimental school project: the requirement was to use my image in the composition designed for the cover.
With this, and taking inspiration from the golden era of mexican music and cinema, the result turned out to be an old school, simple, and elegant vinyl cover art.
WHY?
The memory of Julieta remains with us. Specially in the tiny details that always invite us to think of her.
Her golden necklace, her meal of choice, and her favorite song: that one that reminds us of her love and passion for singing.
The purpose of this project was to create a piece of art that embodies her spirit and homages her image through her heritage, while strenghtening the family bond of those who are still around.
