Describe: To make this piece I began by rolling out 2 slabs and letting them dry leather hard. To make the plate I placed the slab in the mold and trimmed and smoothed the edges. I finally made a coil foot. For the cup, I rolled the slab and attached it at the ends to make a cylinder. I then cut four slits to dart the bottom. Finally, I made small leaves and attached them to the handle with slip.

Analyze: 

 The principle of design for my cup is in emphasis because the leaves are a different color than the rest of the cup they stand out. The leaves are also 3D and look like they were coming off the handle, this emphasizes the leaves.  The principle of design for my plate is contrast because there are two different shades of green. One is darker than the other. The darker shade pops out and creates contrast with the lighter shade

 

Interpret: The idea for my cup came from the how to make a dark YouTube video. I followed the instructions on the video to create my cup. The idea for my plate came from one of the molds. The symbolism in both of my pieces is the leaves. They symbolize growth in life.

 

 Judgment: on my pieces,  I feel like I could work on glazing and techniques. I also could work on balance so my pieces sit up straight. However, I feel like I have grown in the construction and process of making faces.
