The Flow of Folly and Contained Restraint are representations of how chaotic and disorganized one's mind can become, especially during times of turmoil.
In fact, at the time of creation of Flow of Folly, I was going through a particularly turbulent moment in my personal life. As such, instead of focusing on figures for the group show, I decided to go with a more organic, abstract form; a free-"flowness" of thought through meandering twists and turns and play on visual texture. It is a jumbled mess of both concrete emotions and vaporous notions, all moving in various directions with varying trajectories.
Contained Restraint on the other hand, represents finally gaining control of one's thoughts. The form is no longer outwardly expanding like in Flow of Folly; instead, it is drawn in a cyclical manner to imply a sense of containment—self- containment.
