The Challenge:
We were asked to create a video that shows who I am as a designer (for loeries).
The Design:
When starting the process for this video I created a story board. Most of this story board is inpired by the music video "Move On" by Mike Posner. I really like how the video is shot, where he collected footage from his past and added text breaks in between the footage to add context. This is what I wanted to do.
Next I did some brain storming on who I am as a n individual and a designer. I ended up digging deep into my past and I realized that a big part of what makes me who I am is the fact that I am a triplet. Being a triplet has shaped my entire identity and has forced me toward taking a creative path in life. This is why I wanted to name my video 1/3 - Because my whole life I have never felt whole, especially because I was never an academic student growing up.
I then created a first person script that would provide narrative whilst the video shows footage of me growing up and how I slowly alienated myself from my brothers.
The storyboard shows scenes of how I have grown up into a creative individual and how being a triplet has contributed towards that.
My Opinion:
This process was really reflective and therapeutic. Furthermore, it gave me insights into who I am and the reason why I am this way.
