The EDGE is an urban live/work studiopolex consisting of twelve individual residences; a public gallery for the community, as well as individual space for each artist; and a workshop area with a cafe. This new urban EDGE was created on W. Boundary St., which is the border of the Savannah Historic District; dividing the site between public and private areas is one of the historic canals in the Savannah Green way System.
The east side of the site defines the street EDGE by raising the buildings above street level on an elevated plaza. This creates a new urban space while also rising above the traffic noise and flood plain level. The west side of the site contains the residences, which were modeled from the Savannah row house. Each unit has an open plan with a lofted second level, and a balcony.
