Typographic History Poster - Bodoni
Spring 2010
In my Typography class we were to take a famous typeface, do research on it, and create a poster incorporating a brief history on the typeface, all the letters and commonly used characters of it, and a quote. This was, of course, all to be beautifully type set and well written. The typeface I chose was Bodoni. The hairline serifs, the spurs on the tops of lowercase letters such as the "r" and "p", and the bulbous finial on some of the letters had me in love almost immediately.

I featured the capital "S", lowercase "a" and lowercase "f" to showcase my favorite letters of the typeface. I also included little boxes that also showcase identifying qualities of the typeface. The color scheme was chosen because it is simple and modern, just like Bodoni.

Typesetting the small paragraph was difficult, but in the end incredibly rewarding. Getting rid of all the hyphens at line breaks and making sure everything was spaced well was a fantastic learning experience.
Initially, we were to chose our typeface get to know it by drawing out multiple glyphs from it. We were to focus on the unique properties of the glyphs and pick out what stood out to us.
Final poster.
