CHALLENGE 1: Editing Color
BRIEF: Create an artistic portrait using Adjustment Layers, Blend Modes and other color editing techniques!
APPROACH: Created two book covers using Camera Raw Filter, masks and vector objects.
CHALLENGE 2: Transform
BRIEF: Build a surreal cityscape by selecting, transforming and arranging architectural images.
APPROACH: Transformed a lighthouse into perspective, rearranged its pieces and added elements to create a surreal book cover.
CHALLENGE 3: Layer Masks
BRIEF: Replace the background and alter the mood of an image using Layer Masks.
APPROACH: Masked out subject from background and used a series of masks and gradients to change the look and feel.
CHALLENGE 4: Compositing
BRIEF: Create a dream world by manipulating and combining imagery. As you work, try using Transform Tools and Adjustment Layers.
APPROACH: Combined a group of images into a surreal composite.
CHALLENGE 5: Brush Making
BRIEF: Make texture brushes with Adobe Capture and Photoshop. Then, use your brushes to handletter the title of your favorite book.
APPROACH: Created a brush in Adobe Capture using some pencil marks I drew on a scrap of paper placed on top of a brick to give it texture. Then I used the brush to hand-letter the book title.
CHALLENGE 6: Text Tools
BRIEF: Use Text Tools to design a stylized logo for your favorite book.
APPROACH: Created two variations. One by giving the text the appearance of being torn and displaced, and a second by converting the text into a vector shape and manipulating the points to create and axe shape out of the "i" among other stylistic manipulations.
CHALLENGE 7: Mockup
BRIEF: Add realistic texture to an image or design using Displacement Maps.
APPROACH: Placed a graphic on a flag and used the flag as a displacement map to achieve realistic distortions.
CHALLENGE 8: Motion Effect
BRIEF: Add motion to an image using Transform Tools and color adjustments.
APPROACH: Used a pixel stretch effect and Path Blur to symbolize motion and added gradient and colour overlays to colorize the grayscale image.
CHALLENGE 9: Texture
BRIEF: Use Warp, Liquify and the Smudge Tool to paint colorful textures on an image or object.
APPROACH: Used brush strokes, the Smudge tool and Liquify filter in combination with Blend Modes to create different looks.
