Object/Subject - art book series
“The question whether it is possible at this point in history for women simply
to “appreciate” the female nude in some simple and unproblematic way leads us to ask
the question whether any positive visual representation of women is possible at all.”
 Linda Nochlin
“Object/Subject”, consists in a series of 5 prints that, once folded, becomes a series
of little books. Inspired by the reading of Linda Nochlin's each print plays with a well-known representation of a female figure in the art's history, in its recurring archetypes: n°0 nude, N° 1 beauty (woman with a mirror), N° 2 fight (woman warrior),
N° 3 leadership (woman on the top) and N° 4 family (the wife).
For every feminine representation I went in search of a counterpart this time drawing from the world of recent photography.

The work was initially a free experimentation on the analogical printing superimposition: my first step was literally to play with a pair of female images that could give shape to a third hybrid figure, a fusion of two opposite .

There are therefore two versions for this poster and book series: a limited edition, printed at A14 printshop and art center in lithography polyester plate - with the direction of Daniela Lorenzi - and a digital one, published by Femmes Nomades.

Both version ( n°0 for the limited edition and all the 5 numbers for the digital one ) were presented for the first time during the exhibit “Extra-Bold”/graphic design for social justice  at the “Art and Innovation Center” - Millville NJ,
with a gallery talk on November 15th 2019.
