Restaurant Project

Fujijama Steakhouse is a Japanese hibachi restaurant located in Indianapolis.  The owners were looking to give the restaurant a new look that included a sushi bar, beverage bar, and hibachi dining area.  Through this new design, the restaurant incorporates many aspects of traditional Japanese styles that are able to entertain a variety of age groups.

The design of the space focuses on the Japanese food and the experience that a hibachi and sushi restaurant provides. Rich purple and crimson hues will pop against a warm neutral color pallet in the restaurant re-design. Traditional Japanese elements inspired aspects of nature, simplicity, and rectilinear forms that were created for the restaurant. The design will bring energy and life into the space as well as incorporate the simplistic elements of the shoji screen. The relaxing feeling of diffused light will create an atmosphere of intimacy and entertainment. Linear forms, seen in the floor tile, entry partition, and beverage bar ceiling, highlights all parts of the restaurant design, without losing what the space is truly about—entertainment and energy. Excitement will greet each customer as they enter the restaurant and will be enjoyed by first time diners and returning customers.

Fujiyama isn’t just about great food and entertainment, it is an experience and fun atmosphere, which is now reflected in the design. Whether gazing at the fountain, mingling at the bar, or dining with family, the renovated restaurant will be a truly unique experience in the Indianapolis area.

The entry will be an open space to allow customers to wait, get a beverage from the bar, and even
view the fountain as they wait to be seated. The fountain will remain a focal point in the restaurant
for people to enjoy.

Accent lights will highlight resin panels that are mounted on the back wall of the sushi bar.
The simple and clean design will serve as a piece of art and enhance the atmosphere of the

Hibachi Dining Render

Traditional Japanese elements and color hues are used in the hibachi space to maintain a similar,
but updated atmosphere to the restaurant. It will make current customers feel comfortable
in the redesigned space and encourage the new to visit again.

Hibachi Dining Elevation

Along the West hibachi dining wall stone will be installed and highlighted with downlights.
The dramatic effect will be visually interesting, but not distract from the entertainment by the
chefs.
