Schafler Gallery: Live-Work

PROJECT INFORMATION
1. Work With Existing Gallery Conditions
2. Design a Live-Work Space for a Graffiti Artist and Handicapped Photographer
3. Understand and Define Artists’ Motives and Work
4. Include Handicapped Accessible Space
5. Develop Final Concept Model

From analyzing the two clients, the concept of blurring was developed. In terms of the photographer, both the unfocused camera lens effect and movement in a photo relates to the idea of blurring. In terms of the graffiti artist, the texture of the medium itself is made of tiny particles, creating a blurred effect. Levels of privacy, room function and lighting is applied to the final space. Study of gestures and movement of the human body influences the gestural shapes of the strips for the final space.
