This illustration was inspired by the 'classic redraw' hashtag on Twitter and is a reinterpretation of 'Choosing' by George Frederick Watts. My version has been extensively adapted and is intended to represent the hopes and dangers of the world of romance for women; the dichotomy that you have to make yourself vulnerable and hopeful to find love, but must also protect yourself emotionally and physically. The woman's hope for love is represented via the roses, the dove, and the light on her upturned face, whereas the dangers of the dating world are represented by the crow on her shoulder in the shadows, and the elaborate armour she wears to defend herself.
